The North Carolina Tar Heels women's basketball team will look to shake up March Madness by upsetting the South Carolina Gamecocks in the West Region of the 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament on Sunday.
The No. 8 Tar Heels (20-12) are slated to face the No. 1 Gamecocks (33-0) in a rematch from Nov. 30 (USC 65, UNC 58) at 1 p.m. ET. from Colonial Life Arena in Colombia, S.C, and will be televised live on ABC.
South Carolina is fresh off a 91-39 thrashing of No. 16 Presbyterian in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.
UNC enters Sunday's matchup after squeaking past No. 9 Michigan State 59-56 on Friday. Senior Alyssa Ustby and junior Maria Gakdeng recorded double-doubles in the win.
UNC is 7-5 all-time against the Gamecocks, dropping their matchup from November 65-58. The team's last win against its neighbors to the South came in 2014 when they upset the No. 1-seeded Gamecocks to advance to the Elite 8.
